The Walk That Has Never Existed โ Until Now
A community that has waited 14 years for a moment to walk together finally has one.
World Hypoparathyroidism Awareness Day Is Born
Liz Glenister of Parathyroid UK founded World Hypoparathyroidism Awareness Day (WHAD) โ giving a global voice to a condition that had long been invisible. For the first time, patients around the world had a day to call their own.
14 Years of Awareness โ But No Walk
For 14 years, patients, caregivers, and advocates marked WHAD with posts, ribbons, and awareness campaigns. The community grew. The voices got louder. But one thing was always missing โ a moment to physically come together, side by side, and show the world we exist.
The First Annual Hypopara Life Walk
Co-founded by Bari Vapnek โ columnist, advocate, and Brave Butterfly Bari โ the First Annual World Hypoparathyroidism Awareness Day Walk is born. Not a marathon. Not a race. A walk. Because we might not be able to walk far, but we can walk together.
Our Mission
Unite
Bring the global hypopara community together โ in person and virtually โ for the very first time through a shared walk.
Raise Awareness
Show the world that hypoparathyroidism is real, it is serious, and the people living with it are strong, resilient, and unstoppable.
Drive Change
Help accelerate the development of Tralyte Health's at-home calcium monitor โ the first device designed to give hypopara patients real-time calcium insights. Supporters can invest in Tralyte Health through Wefunder, becoming part of the effort to bring this technology to patients.
"We might not be able to walk far, but we can walk together."
